§ 240-9. Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

  • A. 
    Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers shall be installed and maintained in all business and commercial buildings such as factories, stores, shops and the like. They shall also be installed and maintained in each unit of a hotel, motel, apartment building, rooming house, multiple dwelling, including condominiums, or two-family dwellings, where such units are used for commercial purposes and are not owner-occupied on a fill-time basis.
    B. 
    The owner of any structure requesting issuance of a certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC) pursuant to the provisions of N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.3 shall pay an inspection fee in accordance with the schedule of fees that is set forth in N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.9(d) prior to the issuance of a CSDCMAC.
